Deputy sarpanch, a former Maoist, shot by Naxals | India News


RAIPUR: A former Maoist, who was serving as a deputy sarpanch, was gunned down by a team of Naxalites at a village in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division on Thursday.

Law enforcement explained 39-12 months-aged Manku Potai, the deceased, experienced surrendered in advance of Narayanpur police in 2016. Following his surrender, Potai was elected deputy sarpanch.

Piqued by the climbing popularity of Potai and his bonhomie with law enforcement, the Maoists determined to do away with him. The Maoists were also angry because Potai had refused to show up at a latest assembly known as by them.
