Former Jamia VC Mushirul Hasan dies after prolonged illness | India News

NEW DELHI: Mentioned historian and previous Jamia Millia Islamia vice chancellor Mushirul Hasan handed absent early Monday immediately after prolonged health issues at a non-public clinic in this article, the university claimed.

Hasan, who was admitted to the medical center here last night, breathed his very last at 4 am. He was nearing 70.

“He fulfilled with a street incident about two decades back and was generally mattress-ridden immediately after that. He was also undergoing dialysis for kidney problems,” previous secretary to Jamia Vice chancellor, Zafar Nawaz Hashmi, instructed PTI.

He included, “Some wellbeing complications emerged and he was taken to medical center put up midnight. He handed away there this early morning.”

His namaz-e-janaza will be done at 1 pm at Babul Ilm and 2 pm at Jamia mosque, said family resources.

“He will be buried at the campus cemetery meant for vice chancellors,” a spokesperson of the college stated.

A number of political figures, together with CPI(M) standard secretary Sitaram Yechury and Delhi main minister Arvind Kejriwal, condoled the loss of life.

Recognized for his operate on partition and background of Islam in south Asia, Hasan served as Jamia Millia Islamia vice chancellor between 2004-09. He also held the posts of director common of Countrywide Archives of India, vice-chairman of Indian Institute of State-of-the-art Review, and president of Indian Record Congress.

The CPI(M) standard secretary remembered Hasan as a blend of syncretic society and scholarship.

“A Historian, A Teacher, A Vice-Chancellor, An Archivist: Mushir ul Hasan blended all fantastic attributes of our syncretic society and scholarship. His function and his textbooks keep on to condition our consciousness. Condolences to Prof Zoya Hasan & some others in his relatives,” Yechury tweeted.

Condoling the loss of life, Delhi main minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: “Stunned to know about the unfortunate demise of mentioned scholar and writer Mushir ul Hasan ji. His contribution to Jamia Milla Islamia will usually be remembered.”

Having to pay his homage, Kejriwal’s deputy Manish Sisodia termed Hasan’s dying a “excellent decline” to academia.
