Indian Parliament, Russian Duma vow to deepen ties | India News

NEW DELHI: India and Russia have pledged to enhance “parliamentary diplomacy” amongst the two countries and guarantee strategic, armed forces and stability cooperation in several sectors.

The decision was taken in a meeting involving Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Chairman of the Point out Duma of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin.

Speaking to reporters, Mahajan said, “We have famous with fulfillment the progress in India-Russia relations and have agreed to proceed this trajectory of nearer cooperation, coordination and consolidation of gains to surge ahead”.

The deliberations on Monday were being the fifth conference of the Russia-India Inter-Parliamentary Fee and underlined the requirement of participation of youth and women in democratic procedures.

Volodin explained the parliamentary delegation’s interactions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu have been quite fruitful.
