RBI governor’s resignation ‘severe blow to nation’s economy: Manmohan Singh | India News

NEW DELHI: Previous Primary Minister Manmohan Singh has termed Urjit Patel‘s resignation a “serious blow to the nation’s economic climate”.

Manmohan Singh issued a statement on Urjit Patel’s resignation in which he claimed, “I have regarded Dr Patel to be an economist of significant repute and also another person who cared deeply about India’s fiscal institutions and financial coverage. His unexpected resignation is unfortunate and a intense blow to nation’s financial system.”

Hitting out at the NDA government, the previous Key Minister stated, “There have been apprehensions expressed previously by RBI deputy governor about government’s intent to raid cash reserves of the RBI.I hope the resignation is just not a signal that this may turn into a truth and just isn’t a harbinger of Modi government’s attempts to demolish institutional foundations of India’s economy.
