Freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was born on 27 September in the year 1907 in the Lyallpur district of West Punjab. His proud parents were Krishan Singh and Vidyavati the Jalianwala Bagh tragedy made a massive impression on Bhagat Singh. After graduation Bhagat Singh associated himself with freedom movements. In 1925 Bhagat Singh founded the Nav Jawan Bharat Sabha. His main motive was to spread the spirit of revolution in the hearts of the youth. He learnt the craft of making crude bombs from Jatindra Nath Das. The historical plan of Mr. Scott’s death was made by Bhagat Singh, Rajgum and Azad. On 17th December 1928, this trio managed to kill him. After this incident Bhagat Singh had to flee to Kolkata, where he founded a branch of this movement.

On 8th April, 1929, Bhagat Singh and B.K.Dutta managed to throw a bomb in the central legislature assembly in Delhi and angered the ruthless foreigner by chanting inquilab zindabad. Bhagat Singh was hanged along with Rajguru and Sukhdev on 23rd march, 1931. His sacrifice for the motherland did not pass in vain. The execution of these 3 freedom fighters brought a vigorous and renewed spirit of revolution in the youth.

Bhagat Singh once said” it is my firm belief that the country will not profit by bombs and pistols. Mere throwing of bombs is not only futile but it is often harmful, although it may be permissible in certain circumstances”. Bhagat Singh proved that he was a true republican when he said” labors are the real sustainer of society. The sovereignty of the people is the ultimate destiny of workers.” Inquilab Zindabad was the war cry of this ferocious freedom fighter and his intentions were not that of anarchism. He said” if the deaf are to hear the sound has to be very loud. When we dropped the bomb, it was not our intention to kill anybody. We have bombed the British government. The British must quit India and make her free.”
